Types of Membership

Registration and Membership.

³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ has various membership types with different requirements and benefits for each. Graduate and AHP members are referred to as Registrants and are on the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register, the remaining categories are members, and are not on the register.

Key information for applicants.

  • Registration and membership runs from 1st February to 31st January each year regardless of joining date.

  • You can apply to register at any point in the year.

  • Renewal applications are open throughout December and January.

  • Registration does not renew automatically, registrants and members must take action to renew when notified.

Graduate Registration

Graduate Registration is for fully qualified Sport Rehabilitators. Graduate members are included on the ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ register which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority in Health and Social Care.

  • To be eligible for Graduate Registration you must:

    • Have completed a ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ accredited degree*.

    • Pass the Registration Exam

    • Be signed off as Fit to Practise by your academic institution

    • Have completed an approved Pre-Hospital Trauma Care Qualification

    • Completed 400 hours of supervised clinical placements

    • Meet the ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ Standards of Ethical Conduct and Behaviour

    *Graduates from programmes recognised via the International Arrangement are also eligible to pursue registration. Please see the International Certification page for more information.

    • Allows you to work as a registered sport rehabilitator

    • Use the suffix ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡-reg and the combined ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ and PSA Quality mark

    • Included on the PSA Accredited Register

    • Eligible to apply for international certification via the International Arrangement

    • Covered by the ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ Professional Liability Insurance block policy. Giving you comprehensive cover for the whole scope of practice as a GSR

    • Access to a 24/7 Legal helpline

    • Option to be included in the Find a Practitioner directory

    • Professional advice from the ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ on a range of issues

    • Access to guidance documents and toolkits

    • Free Pro subscription to Rehab Guru

    • Access to a range of member benefits and discounts

    • Free access to ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡â€™s own CPD platform with a range of modules and webinars.

    • National and international representation to promote and develop Sport Rehabilitation

  • Graduate Registration is £350 per year. This can be paid in full or by monthly direct debit. Between 1st August and 31st January we offer a 6 month payment option which is £175.

    All registrations expire and must be renewed before the 31st January each year.

AHP Registration

Allied Health Professional Registration is for qualified Sport Rehabilitators (from an accredited programme) who have also gone on to train and register in an Allied Health Profession. Applicants must hold both qualifications in order to be eligible for AHP registration.

  • To be eligible for AHP Registration you must:

    • Have completed a ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ accredited degree*.

    • Also qualified and registered as an allied health professional. This registration must be with a statutory register or PSA Accredited Register.

    • Pass the Registration Exam

    • Be signed off as Fit to Practise by your academic institution

    • Have completed an approved Pre-Hospital Trauma Care Qualification

    • Completed 400 hours of supervised clinical placements

    • Meet the ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ Standards of Ethical Conduct and Behaviour

    AHP Registration is also available to GSRs working internationally who are registered in the country in which they are practicing but wish to also maintain UK registration.

Associate Membership

Associate membership is open to qualified registered healthcare professionals with an interest in sport rehabilitation.

  • To be eligible for Associate membership you must:

    • Have a degree in a field related to sport rehabilitation.

    • Be registered with the HCPC, GCC, GOsC or other statutory register or accredited register.

    • Have professional liability insurance

    • Meet the ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ Standards of Ethical Conduct and Behaviour

    Associate membership is also open to people of any professional background who are employed members of staff on ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ accredited degree programmes.

    • Access to a range of member benefits and discounts

    • Free access to ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡â€™s own CPD platform with a range of modules and webinars.

    • National and international representation to promote and develop Sport Rehabilitation

  • Associate membership is £50 per year. This can be paid in full, or by direct debit of £6 per month.

    You can join at any time in the year.

    Associate membership expires on the 31st January each year and must be renewed.

International Membership

International membership is open to Athletic Trainers, Therapists, and Sport Rehabilitators outside of the UK who wish to apply for graduate registration via the international arrangement.

  • To be eligible for International membership you must:

    • Be a certified member of one of the international arrangement credentialling organisations (BOC, ARTI, CATA).

    • Wishing to pursue registration with ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡

    • Provides access to the international application process via ICD

    • Includes one attempt plus up to one resit of the ³Ô¹ÏÏÖ³¡ registration exam.

  • International membership is £100. This must be paid in full.
